Rice with Latin Oryza sativa is one of the most important cultivated plants in human civilization. Although it refers to a type of cultivated plant, padi is also used to refer to several types of the same genus (genus), which are commonly referred to as wild rice. Rice is thought to have come from India or Indochina and entered Indonesia brought by ancestors who migrated from mainland Asia around 1500 BC.
